GRAYLING TOWNSHIP BOARD

REGULAR MEETING

JANUARY 11, 2006

Members Present: Shawn Kraycs, Dennis Long, Monica Ashton, Terry Wright.

Members Absent: Ruth O’Mara.

Others Present: Jeff Pendergraff.

Supervisor Wright called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.

1. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Grayling Township Board of December 14, 2005, and the Record of Public Hearings of December 14, 2005, as presented. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.

2. The Treasurer’s Report for December 2005 was not available for this meeting.

3. Correspondence: (No action required) Par-Plan News for Dec 05, Recycling Report for Dec 05, Building Dept Report for Dec 05, Chamber News for Jan 05, Crawford Co. Senior Gazette for Jan 05, Fire Dept Report for Dec 05.

4. There were no citizens who wished to speak.

5. Action on renewal of Special Assessment Districts for Maintenance of Private Roads, which were heard at public hearings held earlier this evening.

A. Property owners at public hearing for South Horseshoe Trail (South of M-72 Hwy) voiced desire to change road maintenance contractors. Supervisor advised a new petition should be circulated. Public hearing of necessity rescheduled for 6:35 p.m. February 8, 2006.

B. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, that absent negative comment from property owners at public hearing for Timber Trail, this board affirms the necessity for continuation of the Special Assessment District for Maintenance and approves renewal of same. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried. Public hearing for approval of the Special Assessment Roll for Maintenance of Timber Trail is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. February 8, 2006.

C. Motion by Kraycs, second by Long, that absent negative comment from property owners at public hearing for Turner Trail, this board affirms the necessity for continuation of the Special Assessment District for Maintenance and approves renewal of same. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried. Public hearing for approval of the Special Assessment Roll for Maintenance of Turner Trail is scheduled for 6:25 p.m. February 8, 2006.

6. A public hearing regarding the necessity of creation of a Special Assessment District for Rebuilding Ole Dam Road between Turner Trail and Nottingham Drive is scheduled for February 8, 2006 beginning at 7:00 p.m. 7. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, to support the Crawford County Resolution for adoption of the Crawford County, Michigan, Hazard Mitigation Plan as presented. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried. (See attachment “A”).

8. Motion by Long, second by Kraycs, to adopt 2006 Grayling Township Poverty Guidelines per schedule established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. (See attachment “B”).

Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.

9. The Crawford County Board of Commissioners has awarded the following environmental grants to Grayling Township for 2006. Scrap Tire Clean-up: $4,447.00. Milfoil Eradication: $2,668.00. (See Attachment “C”).

10. Motion by Kraycs, second by Long, to approve payment of claims on vouchers 3998-4040, Board & Comm. Fees for Dec 05 $695.00, Liquor inspections $120.00 for a grand total of $101,392.05. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one. Motion carried.

11. Motion to adjourn, carried. Ayes; four, Nays; none, Absent; one.
