GRAYLING CHARTER TOWNSHIP

Regular Meeting

December 19, 2007

Members Present: Dennis Long, Cindy Olson, Monica Ashton, Terry Wright.

Members Absent: Shawn Kraycs, two vacant positions.

Others Present: None.

Supervisor Wright called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance

1. Correspondence (No action required): E911 Report for Nov 2007, Recycling Report for Nov 2007, and Fire Dept. Report for Oct & Nov 2007.

2. Motion by Long, second by Olson,to approve minutes of November 20, 2007 as presented. Ayes, five; Nays, none; Absent, one, two vacant positions. Motion carried.

3. Treasurer’s report for November 2007 was presented and placed on file.

4. There were no citizens who wished to speak.

5. Motion by Olson, second by Long, to adopt the 2008 Poverty Guidelines as determined by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions. Motion carried.

6. Motion by Olson, second by Long, to deny request for abandonment of that portion of N. Portage Avenue running through Block 2 of Oak Hill Park First Edition, Sec. 15, T26N, R4W. Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions. Motion carried.

7. Motion by Long, second by Olson, that the Township pledges no matching funds on the USDA Rural Development Authority Grant Application at this time. Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions. Motion carried.

8. Motion by Olson, second by Long, that Supervisor send notice to the City of Grayling that Grayling Township will need access to two bays of the Old Fire Barn for storage of Township equipment by January 15, 2008. Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions. Motion carried.

9. Supervisor Wright reported that no progress has been made with the City of Grayling regarding a new Mutual Fire Protection Agreement.

10. Wright, Olson and Wotring will have a report on “Pay As You Throw” alternative for reducing costs to run the Grayling Township Compactor (Transfer) Station at the January meeting.

11. Grayling Township Constable, Mr. Jack D. Best, passed away in early December. Jack had served as our Constable since December of 1986. This Board wishes to convey its sympathy to his family and also its appreciation of Jack’s commitment to his community.

12. Motion by Olson, second by Ashton, to appoint Randolph B. Sedgwick as interim Constable of the Charter Township of Grayling, to serve through the remaining term of Jack D. Best, (11-20-08). Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions. Motion carried.

13. Motion by Ashton, second by Olson, to approve payment of claims on vouchers 5986, 5990 through 6035, Liquor Inspections $120.00, Board & Comm fees $595.00, Electrical Inspections $1,045.00 for a grand total of $44,287.91. Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions. Motion carried.

14. Motion to adjourn at 10:55 a.m., carried. Ayes, four; Nays, none; Absent, one and two vacant positions.
